Ida Mercer

Ida has a HUGE dog. She is also a member of the cello faculty and chairman of the String Department at the Cleveland Music School Settlement and is a cello instructor at the Cleveland Institute of Music/ Case Western Reserve University.

A founding member of the Cleveland Cello Society, she serves as its Program Chairperson. She also is a cellist in the Opera Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Pops. For the past 16 years, Ida has spent the month of August playing in the Britt Classical Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Oregon. In 2002, the Ohio String Teacher's Association named her "Studio Teacher of the Year".

She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Illinois, a Master of Music from the Yale University School of Music and her Doctorate of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music/Case Western Reserve University.

Ida resides in Shaker Heights with her husband Glenn, an automotive industry analyst, and their four children...and HUGE dog
